VIDEO: First Time Making Yogurt In My New Yolife Yogurt Maker
So, this video (posted at the bottom) is actually a week old. The last time I saw my doctor I informed her my stomach was feeling worse than ever. She gave me a yogurt recipe and told me to eat the "drippings" once a day at lunchtime. It has been a week and I have eaten one yogurt a day and I cannot believe the difference it makes! I have stopped taking my $60 a bottle probiotics and my stomach has never felt better! Well, that's not entirely true...it felt better when I didn't have a bacterial overgrowth...but regardless, I'm thrilled with the results!! Also, the yogurt is AMAZING. So creamy and delicious. It thickened up after I put it in the refrigerator overnight.
In Ayurveda, a healthy digestive system is the key to health and longevity. Ayurveda recommends eating all food at room temperature or only slightly chilled (for the most part.) The theory is that cold foods and drinks douse the fire in the belly (agni) weakening the digestive process. Western medical doctors are beginning to support this theory as well. So I take my yogurt out of the refrigerator about 45 minutes before I am ready to eat it. I pour it into a mesh liner over a cup and first drink the drippings. After the yogurt is strained like this its' consistency is like the Fage brand...thick and creamy. I pour maple syrup on top and savor every bite. I will probably never buy store bought yogurt again. Homemade yogurt tastes better, is better for you, and is so much cheaper to make! I LOVE IT!
Regarding the video...I am videoing my first attempts trying new recipes and products. While this might result in a somewhat "off-beat video style," I prefer sharing in this way because the viewer can see how easy or difficult the first time process really is from start to finish, and what challenges might unfold along the way. In addition, I feel like we are going through the process together. I like that. It makes me feel like I'm not alone doing all of this. So, thank you. :)

You've probably figured this out already, but the process would be a lot simpler for you if you poured the hot milk into a clean glass pitcher to cool and then you can pour it into the little jars. How expensive is this little yogurt kit? I guess the next batch, maybe 2 tsp. of the culture might give you the consistancy you want? Let us know how it comes out!
ReplyDeleteHaha, yep...I figured that out the next time. :) The yogurt was AMAZING!!! I LOVE it. So creamy. My stomach feels amazing since I have been eating it once a day. The consistency was perfect after spending a night in the fridge. Here is a link to the yogurt maker on amazon.
